NCIS star Michael Weatherly has once again sparked excitement among fans by hinting at the possibility of Tony DiNozzo’s return, stating that there is “unfinished” business for the character.
Tony DiNozzo, a beloved figure in the CBS police procedural, captivated fans from the start until his emotional departure in 2016. His exit came after learning of the apparent death of Agent Ziva David (played by Cote de Pablo), the colleague and love of his life, and the revelation that they had a daughter named Tali.
Having believed Ziva to be deceased, Tony left NCIS behind for a new life in Paris. Fans were pleasantly surprised when it was later revealed that Ziva was alive, and she reunited with her loved ones at the end of Season 17. Since then, both Tony and Ziva have been absent from the series.
In response to a fan’s question on Twitter about his favorite character to play, choosing between DiNozzo and Jason Bull in CBS’ legal drama Bull, the 55-year-old actor initially teased, “I suppose you leave out Logan Cale on purpose,” playfully referencing his earlier role in Dark Angel. However, it was his subsequent statement that garnered attention: “There will be more DiNozzo someday because he is the one character that felt unfinished… that’s my plan! We shall see…”
The revelation ignited excitement among NCIS viewers, who expressed their joy on social media. Weatherly’s acknowledgment of DiNozzo’s unfinished story has left fans eagerly anticipating a potential return of the charming and witty character to the series.
