In an exciting update, Jason Antoon, star of the CBS spin-off show CIS: Hawai’i, took to the social media platform X to announce the commencement of filming for the much-anticipated third season. The actor, known for his role as Ernie Malik, shared a selfie taken outside Hawaii Film Studios, where interior shots and sound stage scenes are filmed.
In his caption, Jason enthusiastically wrote, “It’s beginning #NCISHawaii #Season3,” sparking joy among fans who eagerly expressed their excitement in the comments. Noah Mills, Jason’s co-star portraying Jesse Boone, had previously hinted at a tentative start date of December 4 during an interview with Entertainment Tonight.
While the uncertainty in Noah’s statement left room for speculation, Jason’s recent announcement suggests that filming might have kicked off a bit earlier than planned. The revelation marks a long-awaited update for fans who patiently waited for information on season three after the production delays caused by the SAG-AFTRA strike earlier in the year.
The strikes, led by the Writers Guild of America and SAG-AFTRA, caused significant delays in the production of both NCIS and its spin-off NCIS: Hawai’i. The unions successfully reached agreements with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers, allowing CBS to announce the release dates for the 21st season of NCIS and the third season of NCIS: Hawai’i. Both shows are set to return on February 12, with NCIS airing at 9pm and NCIS: Hawai’i at 10pm.
NCIS: Hawai’i has captivated audiences since its premiere in 2021, becoming a standout hit in the franchise. The spin-off follows a fictional team of Naval Criminal Investigative Service agents investigating high-stakes crimes involving military personnel and national security. Vanessa Lachey leads the cast as Special Agent in Charge Jane Tennant, the franchise’s first female lead, alongside a talented ensemble including Alex Tarrant, Yasmine Al-Bustami, Noah Mills, Tori Anderson, and Kian Talan.
