Actress Pauley Perrette took to Instagram to remember her late cousin Wayne, who was a firefighter and passed away in 2022. Perrette, best known for her role as forensic scientist Abby Sciuto on CBS’s procedural NCIS, shared an emotional post honoring Wayne’s memory.
In the Instagram post, Perrette shared a picture of Wayne’s back tattoo paying tribute to the 343 firefighters who lost their lives in the 9/11 terrorist attack. In the caption, she expressed her deep sorrow at the loss of her cousin, describing him as her cousin, brother, and best friend.
“My firefighter Cousin Wayne spent every day after 9/11 paying homage to the 343 firefighters we lost on that awful day,” Perrette wrote. “He just went to heaven and is among them now,” she added.
Perrette had previously spoken about the close bond she shared with Wayne, describing him as her person and lamenting the void his passing left in her life. She commemorated the anniversary of his passing by expressing her ongoing struggle to cope with the loss.
Perrette also reflected on the challenges she has faced, including suffering a stroke and losing loved ones like her father and cousin Wayne. Despite the hardships, she emphasized her gratitude for still being here and expressed her faith and resilience.
NCIS, the long-running series in which Perrette starred, airs on CBS in the US, while UK viewers can stream Seasons 1-20 on Disney+.
