The Knives Out murder mystery franchise is set to continue with a third installment, as reported by Deadline. Director and writer Rian Johnson, who helmed the first two films, is gearing up for the next chapter in collaboration with T-Street, the production company he co-leads with Ram Bergman. The upcoming film, yet to be titled, will be produced for Netflix, and Daniel Craig is set to reprise his role as detective Benoit Blanc.
Following the success of 2019’s Knives Out and 2022’s Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, both led by Daniel Craig, T-Street is preparing to bring the third installment to life later this year. Rian Johnson, who previously confirmed his ideas for a third movie, will once again take on the roles of writer and director. Johnson expressed his intention to explore a completely new direction tonally and thematically, avoiding replication of the previous films.
While casting details for Knives Out 3 are yet to be revealed, Daniel Craig is confirmed to return as the lead detective. The first two films boasted star-studded casts, with the original featuring actors like Chris Evans, Ana de Armas, and Jamie Lee Curtis, while the second film included names such as Dave Bautista, Edward Norton, Kathryn Hahn, Ethan Hawke, and Janelle Monáe.
The success of the Knives Out franchise showcases its popularity among audiences, and the upcoming third installment is highly anticipated as it continues the intriguing and witty detective stories crafted by Rian Johnson. Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery is currently available for streaming on Netflix, while the first Knives Out film can be found on various platforms, including 4K Ultra-HD, Blu-ray, DVD, Prime Video, iTunes, and other digital services.
