Sofía Vergara, known for her role in Modern Family, has disclosed the extreme measures she took to prepare for her new Netflix show, Griselda. In the series, Vergara portrays real-life Colombian drug trafficker Griselda Blanco Restrepo, undergoing a dramatic transformation using facial prosthetics.
The actress went beyond facial alterations, sharing that she sustained a back injury from maintaining an unnatural body position for an extended period. Trying to avoid appearing like she was in a Halloween costume, Vergara wore a minimizing bra and adjusted her posture for six months. The result was a painful back condition that required physical therapy.
Despite the challenges, Vergara expressed that the experience was “worth it,” even though she humorously acknowledged that she might not say the same after ten years and a potential operation. Griselda, a six-part series detailing Blanco’s ascent through the Miami underworld, premieres on Netflix on January 25, 2024. Vergara not only stars in the show but also serves as a producer alongside co-creator Eric Newman. The cast includes Vanessa Ferlito, Alberto Ammann, Christian Tappan, Alberto Guerra, Diego Trujillo, José Zúñiga, Maximiliano Hernández, and others.
