Nick Lachey, a former member of the boy band 98 Degrees, and Vanessa Lachey, an actress known for her role in NCIS: Hawai’i, first met in 2003 while filming for the same MTV show in New York. At that time, Vanessa was working as a host on Total Request Live (TRL). Although Nick was also the star of MTV’s Newlyweds with his then-wife Jessica Simpson, he and Vanessa remained friends.
After Nick’s divorce in 2005, Vanessa starred in one of his music videos for the song ‘What’s Left of Me’ in February 2006. The chemistry between them during the shoot led to them starting to date. They went public with their relationship shortly after, sharing a kiss on live TV during MTV’s New Year’s party.
In August 2008, Vanessa spoke fondly of Nick, describing him as very loving, and they celebrated two years together. However, in June 2009, they decided to take a break and see other people. Fortunately, the separation didn’t last long, and by October of the same year, they were back together. Vanessa revealed in 2020 that during their brief split, they each saw someone else and realized that they could be amazing together if they overcame their own issues.
One year after their reconciliation, Nick proposed to Vanessa, and the couple got engaged. They got married on July 15, 2011, in a relatively small ceremony attended by around 30 of their closest friends and family members. Since then, they have built a life together, including starting a family. Despite facing some challenges, they have successfully navigated their relationship and continue to be a loving couple.
