CBS has announced the cancellation of the long-running series NCIS: Los Angeles, concluding its 14-season run on May 14th. The action drama, starring Chris O’Donnell, LL Cool J, Linda Hunt, Daniela Ruah, Eric Christian Olsen, Medalion Rahimi, Caleb Castille, and Gerald McRaney, follows the LA-based NCIS division as they tackle high-stakes missions to protect US security.
NCIS: Los Angeles will wrap with its 322nd episode, making it one of CBS’s longest-running primetime series. Despite a surprising cancellation, the decision comes after a 0.39 rating in the 18-49 demographic and an average of 4.46 million viewers in Season 14, a decline from the previous season.
The cast and crew have been informed, and while the series may be expensive to produce, the cancellation is unexpected considering the strong ratings during a recent crossover with NCIS and NCIS: Hawai’i. There’s speculation about a potential revival, as seen with the CSI and Criminal Minds franchises, but for now, producers have the opportunity to give the series a fitting farewell.
Amy Reisenbach, president of CBS Entertainment, expressed gratitude for the collaborative effort and remarkable run of NCIS: Los Angeles, promising a proper sendoff for the cherished members of the CBS family and their dedicated fans.
