Mark Harmon is set to executive produce and lend his narration to NCIS: Origins, a forthcoming drama delving into the backstory of a young Leroy Jethro Gibbs, a character portrayed by Harmon in the flagship NCIS series for 19 seasons.
No casting details for the military investigation series have been revealed as of yet. The show is anticipated to debut during the 2024-25 television season.
“We are thrilled to extend the NCIS universe in such an innovative and unexpected manner,” expressed Amy Reisenbach, president of CBS Entertainment, in a statement on Friday.
“Mark Harmon’s return to CBS to narrate the intricate and enigmatic origins of Leroy Jethro Gibbs will enrich the character’s storied legacy, reintroducing beloved characters and introducing new ones to our audience.”
NCIS Season 21 is scheduled for a February premiere.
