NCIS Prequel Unveils Stunning Return of Original Series Character! Prepare for the Ultimate Blast from the Past!

Exciting news for NCIS fans! The upcoming prequel series, NCIS: Origins, is expanding its roster by including a third character from the original NCIS in its lineup alongside Gibbs and Mike Franks. As reported by TVLine, the latest addition to the prequel is a young incarnation of Special Agent Vera Strickland, portrayed by Roma Maffia. Strickland, introduced in a Season 11 episode as a former partner of Franks, will play a significant role in uncovering the untold stories of Gibbs’ past.

Set against the backdrop of 1991, NCIS: Origins follows a newly minted special agent, Leroy Jethro Gibbs, stationed at the fledgling NCIS Camp Pendleton office. Here, he becomes an integral part of a gritty, ragtag team led by the legendary Mike Franks. The series promises to delve into the formative years of Gibbs’ career, offering fans a glimpse into the challenges and adventures that shaped the iconic character we know today.

In a departure from the main series, where Mark Harmon’s real-life son, Sean Harmon, portrayed a younger version of Gibbs, NCIS: Origins will feature a new actor in the role. Sean Harmon, along with Mark, will serve as a producer on the show, ensuring that the essence of Gibbs’ character is faithfully captured.

Sean Harmon expressed his excitement about the project, stating, “The character of Gibbs has been an important part of my life for 20 years, both in watching my father craft the role and previously having the honor to play young Gibbs myself. I always felt there was a tale worth telling about his earlier years, so I am thrilled to be stepping into a producing role alongside Gina [Lucita Monreal], David [J. North], and my dad as we tell this story and reveal a new side of this beloved character.”

While NCIS: Origins is a captivating addition to the franchise, the main series continues to thrive, even after Mark Harmon’s departure in its nineteenth season. Fans can look forward to the premiere of Season 21 on February 12, 2024, along with the Season 3 premiere of the NCIS: Hawai’i spinoff series. As for NCIS: Origins, though a set premiere date is yet to be announced, the show is in development and is slated to hit screens during the 2024-25 television season. Stay tuned for more revelations from the past as the NCIS universe expands with this highly anticipated prequel.
